Scholarship

TKE is proud to offer its members a wide array of scholarship awards to recognize their outstanding achievements. These scholarships can be put into a few different classifications.

The largest number of awards are run through the TKE Educational Foundation at TKE Headquarters. Beyond these awards there are also a number of Nu-Chapter specific awards.  Our local chapter also sponsors a number of scholarships specifically for Nu-Chapter Tekes.

Below are the different scholarships currently available to Nu-Chapter Tekes.  You can see our Past Scholarship Winners on our Undergraduate Awards page.

National Nu-Chapter Specific Scholarships:

There are two Nu Chapter specific scholarships run through the TKE Educational Foundation:

W. Allan Herzog Scholarship: A scholarship which is available to an undergraduate member of Nu Chapter of TKE, with a 2.75 GPA, who is a full-time student. This scholarship is specifically tailored towards Fraters pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or economics, and they will receive priority.

John B. Phillips Scholarship: A scholarship which is available to an undergraduate member of Nu Chapter of TKE who is a full time student, is at least a sophomore, will have completed at least one year of pledge/active membership in Nu Chapter when the award is granted, has committed to living in the fraternity house at Cal during the semester the award is granted, and has a GPA of at least 3.0.

Michael Cerussi Leadership Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a past or present jeweled officer with a 3.0 GPA minimum. Members from Nu Chapter are preferred, but if there is no qualified applicant, the scholarship will be open to any other eligible Teke.

Local Nu-Chapter Scholarships:

There are two scholarships issued by Nu ChapterDonate to our Scholarship Fund

Sophus C. Goth Scholarship: A scholarship which is available to an undergraduate member of the Nu Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon. The award is based on a combination of scholastic achievement and evidence of service to the Fraternity, campus community, and beyond. The award is issued annually by the scholarship committee of Nu Chapter under the direction of the Board of Advisors.

Housing Corporation Scholarships: Three awards in the amount of $1,500, $1,000 and $500 are available to undergraduate, live-in members of the Nu Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon who are returning to live-in for their senior year. Candidates who have a dedicated history of service to the Chapter, strong G.P.A. and philanthropic activities will be given preference in the selection process. The award is issued annually by the scholarship committee of Nu Chapter under the direction of the Board of Advisors.

Candidate Scholarship Program

There are up to three Candidate Scholarships issued to newly initiated members each year. Each one of these scholarships is awarded automatically by the undergraduate chapter in the 5th week of the semester following the member’s initiation. Fraters are only eligible to receive one Candidate Scholarship in their lifetime. Donate to our Scholarship Fund

Lowest Scroll Scholarship: A $150 scholarship which is awarded automatically to the newly initiated member who has had outstanding performance in his pledge class, with consistent dedication to leadership in his pledge class. As long as initiation order is based on performance of members during their candidate semester, it is awarded to the newly initiated member with the lowest numerical scroll in his pledge class. This scholarship is awarded as long as the initiated class is at least ten members in size.

Highest New Member GPA Scholarship: A $150 scholarship which is awarded automatically to the newly initiated member who had the highest GPA in his pledge semester. This scholarship is awarded as long as long as the initiated class is at least twelve members in size.

New Member Community Service Scholarship: A $100 scholarship which is awarded automatically to the newly initiated member who has completed the highest number of community service hours during his pledge semester. This scholarship is awarded as long as the initiated class is at least fifteen members in size.

TKE National Scholarships:

Each year the Grand Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon offers a series of scholastic and leadership based scholarships to undergraduate members of the Fraternity. These scholarship range in value from $150 to $3,000, and are awarded annually in the spring semester. Requirements to apply differ from scholarship to scholarship but usually entail a minimum GPA, and demonstration of leadership skills or dedication to the Fraternity. The deadline to apply to these scholarships is February 15th.
